URGENT/HYBRID
PUBLISHING
Quote 1

What makes these urgent times different? We've been through other eras that were defined by oppression, or war time. Other moments when social unrest demanded some kind of response, especially from artists and designers.

Quote 2

Speeding up the printing and publishing process is by no means straightforward. It seems that all too often, any one of the three success factors in publishing that we identified – namely speed, quality, and positioning of the publication with an audience – could only be realized at the expense of the other two. For example, speeding up can mean a sacrifice on the side of quality because there is less time for editing, or a too heavy focus on quality can mean that the posi- tioning of the publication with an audience will fall short and the speed of publication will un- doubtedly suffer.

Quote 3

As the book evolves and we replace bound texts with flat screens and electronic ink. Are these objects and files really books? Does the feel of the cover or the smell of the paper add something crucial to the experience. Or does the magic live only in the words, no matter what they're presentation?

Question #1

Is there a difference between hybrid publishing and mixed media?
Hyrbid publishing

Hybrid publishing combination between multiple publications (online, offline or combined) with the same or corresponding content. These publications can interact with each other or cooperate with eachothers content by showing (for instance) videos (only visible in online media) interaction between print and web (QR codes, machine learning).
Urgency

Importance requiring swift action. Urgent topics can differ for different groups and will always be relavent for these groups. Something urgent is something that is not entirly fixable. For instance topics that revolve around individuals (politicians making fake promisis). Urgency stays relevant (cannot be outdated or fixed in one go) If the problem is fixed the urgency lies behind it staying fixed.
Question #2

What are examples of urgent topics? how do you secure/explain that these topics will stay relevant?
Question #3

What are good ways of collaborating content through a Hybrid publication? Combining interactivity (web) with written content (print)

Why is the student debt urgent?

It creates stress which makes it hard for students to concentrate on school.

Harder to get a hypotheek while the housing market is getting more expensive.

The investments from the government into education starts within 5 years (that means not all of our student debt will go to us)
